Indianapolis School District taps Scale Computing for IT infrastructure at the edge

Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township utilising Scale Computing’s all-in-one solution for hyperconvergence and edge computing for 21 schools.

Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Wayne Township has selected Scale Computing’s HC3 platform for a fast, cost effective and resilient solution for hyperconvergence at the edge of the network.

MSD Wayne Township’s first school, Ben Davis High School, was established in 1892. Since then, the district has grown to more than 16,000 students in 21 schools spread across 35 miles in Indianapolis. Due to this expansion, MSD Wayne Township needed a scalable, flexible IT solution capable of processing compute at the edge of the network.


Before migrating to Scale Computing, the school district utilised a blend of cloud computing for its IT infrastructure but realised that many of its services are better provided on premises. MSD Wayne Township turned away from many virtualisation solutions due to the high licensing costs until they found Scale Computing. With HC3, no additional software licensing was needed, reducing licensing and maintenance costs.

MSD Wayne Township turned to Scale Computing’s HC3 platform for server, storage, virtualisation, disaster recovery and edge computing in a single solution. After having so much success with the first implementation, MSD Wayne Township has added a second implementation from Scale Computing. The all-in-one HC3 was far less complex than other solutions, greatly simplifying the management and maintenance of its infrastructure. With industry standard components, the HC3 appliances install in under an hour and can be expanded and upgraded with no downtime.
