Hortonworks accelerates global expansion

Hortonworks has added Joe Morrissey as Vice President of International and Kamal Brar as Vice President and General Manager of Asia Pacific to its rapidly expanding international team. Morrissey will be responsible for developing and executing Hortonworks’ sales and expansion strategy across the entire international business, with Brar responsible for leading and developing the growth opportunities across the Asia Pacific region.

Morrissey joins from MongoDB where he held the position of Vice President and General Manager of EMEA. His previous experience includes executive positions at Oracle and MySQL where he consistently delivered dynamic expansion, growing both teams and revenue significantly. Brar brings extensive industry expertise in data management, open source and enterprise software, having held senior executive roles with Talend, MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard and IBM.

“Enterprises across the globe are adopting modern data applications to underpin their digital transformation projects,” said Morrissey. “This represents a huge opportunity for connected data platforms, and I believe Hortonworks is ideally positioned to lead this rapidly-growing market category. I look forward to leading the international development of this exciting company.”

“A growing number of organizations in the Asia Pacific region are looking for help in understanding how they can best uncover value from their data,” said Brar. “Asia Pacific is a key market for Hortonworks and I’m delighted and privileged to join the company to build out the next phase of growth, drive business transformation and build our customer base in the region.”

2016 has been a year of tremendous progress for Hortonworks, with the company extending its leadership in connected data platforms. Having established international headquarters in London and the Asia Pacific region, the company has taken huge strides to build its international network and increase sales and support resources in these key regions.

“Hortonworks is a strategic partner for organizations that are maximizing the value of data to transform business models, drive new sources of revenue and reduce costs from legacy platforms,” said Rob Bearden, chief executive officer at Hortonworks. “With their vast global experience, the addition of Joe and Kamal to our international team will greatly contribute to customers reaching these goals. We are excited to welcome them both to the company.”
