Optimising infrastructure visibility and performance

Cherry Health, the largest federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Michigan, has optimised the performance of nearly 300 servers across its network with the rollout of Blue Medora's VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for Microsoft SQL Server.

The solution enables Cherry Health to manage, monitor and troubleshoot its entire network environment from a single console across its 20 locations.

The organisation, which has 260 virtualised servers and 30 physical servers running healthcare and Microsoft applications, adopted Blue Medora's solution to proactively manage its IT environment. Cherry Health previously used a number of different management tools to manage its network, but was unable to integrate them into a single view, as each tool was specific to individual manufacturers.

Ken Brower, director of information systems at Cherry Health, said the results were immediately revealing.

"Blue Medora's management software allowed us to begin looking at our entire network with new insights to make our environment more efficient," he said. "We quickly discovered that we were over-provisioned for SQL servers, which allowed us to save money by cutting back on Microsoft licenses and reducing unnecessary processors and memory without affecting users."

"Cherry Health is just one of many customers experiencing enhanced visibility of its network thanks to a Blue Medora management pack. This has enabled its IT teams to visualise every platform, system or aspect, all the time. Using a single pane of glass, silos are torn down and teamwork encouraged between previously independent teams," said Mike Kelly, CTO at Blue Medora.
