Lenovo and Maxta have jointly developed a hyper-converged appliance that Lenovo will sell and support throughout China. The custom offering leverages Lenovo systems and Maxta software with  comprehensive enterprise-class management and data services that enable customers to move away from traditional SAN and NAS devices and complete the transition to a software defined data center based on VMware or KVM software.

The jointly-developed appliance under this strategic partnership, Lenovo’s AIO-H3000, is generally available to customers in greater China. Sold through its sizeable sales force and channel network, Lenovo will devote significant resources to market, sell and support AIO-H3000.

Powered by a specially optimized version of Maxta MxSP and Lenovo system software, which was selected for the Lenovo-branded hyper-converged solution based on its innovation, flexibility, stability, reliability and ease of use, the AIO-H3000, based on the Intel® Xeon® Processor V3 Family and the Intel SSD DC Series, will look to fulfill the increasing demand for hyper-convergence solutions in China and dominate this market by addressing the unique requirements of the Chinese market.

“The Chinese marketplace is growing exponentially, putting a great strain on IT budgets, and presenting a huge opportunity for IT infrastructure transformation for both Lenovo and Maxta,” said WeiDong Wei, General Manager and Vice President, Lenovo Enterprise Cloud Ecosystem and Cloud infrastructure Services. “This strain is both in terms of capital expenses and the need for skilled staff to manage increasingly complex data centers.  We chose Maxta specifically for our joint development of the AIO-H3000 appliance to deliver all of the flexibility and functionality that they are known for to help satisfy the needs and requirements of companies throughout China.”

“End-user demands for flexible, reliable performance of IT services are driving a shift in the storage industry towards software-defined storage solutions.   We are collaborating with both Lenovo and Maxta to drive enterprise optimization of server and storage systems based on Intel architecture.  These storage solutions will leverage the benefits of multiple Intel technologies to deliver easy to deploy solutions to the marketplace,” said Bev Crair, Vice President and General Manager of Storage, Data Center Group for Intel Corporation.

Maxta has a long history of successfully working with Lenovo to deliver a set of pre-configured MaxDeploy™ hyper-converged appliances worldwide in addition to supplying Lenovo subsidiary, Motorola Mobility, with hyper-converged solutions to run their business. This new partnership includes many months of joint development and customization to meet the needs of Lenovo customers.

“Broadcom’s leadership and experience in accelerating software defined storage solutions and protecting mission-critical applications in the data center have made it the preferred supplier of choice and foundational storage partner for Lenovo’s server platforms,” said Jas Tremblay, vice president marketing, Data Center Solutions Group, Broadcom. “Expanding our collaboration with Maxta enables Lenovo to deliver new and innovative hyper-converged storage solutions to solve the major challenges facing businesses today and address the needs of the ever-expanding converged data center.”

The Lenovo AIO-H3000 joins the company’s portfolio of servers that offer built-in industry-leading reliability, power efficient designs and world-class performance for business-critical workloads.  The AIO-H3000 includes Maxta’s latest innovation of Application-Defined Storage to independently and easily align storage with applications. It enables the tuning of the virtual storage pool to the optimal configuration for a variety of workloads concurrently, including VDI, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server and Oracle Database.

“In today’s dynamic hyper-convergence marketplace, it is clear that customers are looking for innovation as well as simplicity, maturity, and peace of mind. By bringing together a jointly- developed appliance industry-leading Lenovo systems with innovative Maxta software to deliver the best hyper-converged solution leveraging Lenovo top-notch sales and support,” said Yoram Novick, Maxta CEO.  “This strategic agreement, joint development and go to market approach is the best possible option for introducing hyper-convergence to customers in China, enabling them to reduce the complexity and cost of their data centers by utilizing top-notch Lenovo hardware with the flexibility and economics of Maxta software.”
