Proact has transferred the server infrastructure of Helkama Emotor to a converged infrastructure on a virtual platform.
The capital costs of the new server environment are 30 percent lower than before. Now, the systems work faster and are easier to manage than before. A lot of the capacity of the new infrastructure still remains unused, and it will be easy to add more capacity later. Kim Wikstr?m, IT Manager of Helkama Emotor, estimates the electricity bill of the data center has dropped by approximately 20 per cent.

"We needed a new solution, as it was becoming too demanding to expand the card server environment that had served us well," Kim Wikstr?m explains. The solution, based on Nutanix hardware and VMware virtual platform, provided by Proact has exceeded the expectations of Helkama Emotor. As an independent data center integrator, Proact is always able to provide the most appropriate solution for the needs of its clients.
The migration project of the approximately 30 servers at Helkama Emotor took less than three months, even though the schedule was not the tightest possible. In the integrated environment, the disks are connected directly to the servers. The memory of the physical servers and the processor cores are displayed as one resource pool, which makes management easier. Furthermore, it only takes a couple of minutes to increase the capacity by adding a new physical server.
