Zenium provides data center solution for BT

Following Zenium’s acquisition and re-launch of Frankfurt’s newest and most energy efficient data center in the heart of Germany’s digital city in late 2014, the company continues to deliver resilient and flexible infrastructure solutions to a number of clients, including BT.

BT, one of the world’s leading providers of network, IT and communications services, is using the Frankfurt One facility to deliver state-of-the-art data center services, including the allocation of pre-configured and fully maintained Windows or Linux servers as well as storage solutions, infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS). BT’s assets are protected by more than just physical security measures as Zenium’s Tier 3 data center is reliant and failsafe. A robust power supply is provided by two separate and independent 110kV feeds and multiple back-up generators. At the same time, Frankfurt One offers outstanding energy efficiency with a PUE of 1.3 at full capacity.

“The Frankfurt One data center offers us an excellent environment and long-term growth opportunities to provide our international corporate customers with ICT solutions. Physical security, resilient power supplies and high density space are ideal for our managed hosting, telehousing and cloud computing solutions from the strategically important location of Frankfurt,” said Jochen Hagen, Chief Transformation Officer at BT in Germany.

BT takes the approach that customers want to control precisely where their data is being stored. This is due to technical reasons such as latency times as well as legal and regulatory issues such as data protection and compliance. BT acts according to the motto “Think global, act local”, and operates more than twenty cloud data centers around the world.

“We’re delighted to work with an international provider like BT. Frankfurt is a key location for Zenium and fast developing into one of the most important IT hubs for Europe,” said Julian King, Managing Director of Zenium Germany GmbH.
