Mafi Mushkila wins major USA data centre order

Mafi Mushkila's 3.5kW server emulator has been given Listed status by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the leading independent safety organisation. This prestigious accreditation follows thorough testing of the product by UL auditors and Mafi Mushkila is also celebrating after securing a major order of this device to a leading USA based data centre.

Formed in 1894, UL certifies, validates, tests, inspects, audits, advises and trains. With operations in over 100 countries, it provides knowledge and expertise to help companies guarantee that their products meet compliance and regulatory standards across the supply chain. Considered a mark of quality, many companies will not buy equipment that has not passed UL's rigorous tests and this is particularly evident within the data centre sector.

Server emulators play a vital role in ensuring that a data centre operates as reliably as possible, by testing the infrastructure before it goes live. As an IT infrastructure consumes a great deal of power and generates significant levels of heat, it is imperative that its demands are fully understood.

Using real servers to carry out these tests is prohibitive due to the costs associated with kitting out the data centre, the potential for equipment damage and the amount of time it takes to reset servers after each test. Mafi Mushkila’s powerful 3.5kW 19-inch rack mountable server emulator provides accurate results in a compact and simple to manage package, and offers the safest and most economic method for carrying out electrical, heat load and cooling system tests.

It is designed to meet all requirements – from basic load and close match Delta-T systems, to servers and high density applications. It is one of the most powerful heat loaders available and operates on 208-230V at a 50Hz or 60Hz single phase input, with 50, 75 and 100 per cent settings to optimise efficiency and ensure reliability. These impressive features are complemented by a heater power of 1.875kW/3.75kW (switched) and airflow volume of 241l/s.

Mafi Mushkila is experiencing massive worldwide demand for its 3.5kW server emulator in data centres and has just secured a major order from a leading facility in the USA. The company recently shipped 300 60Hz units and was chosen because of its proven product range, high quality service provision and ability to meet all the customer’s requirements.

‘We are absolutely delighted that this popular product has become UL Listed,’ commented Dave Wolfenden, managing director of Mafi Mushkila. ‘Data centre owners and operators need to know that their facilities will work as intended and our 3.5kW server emulator is a key part of the testing process. UL carries out a rigorous testing process before awarding its certification, meaning that our customers can use this product with 100 per cent confidence.’
