SSE Enterprise Telecoms has announced three strategic appointments to lead its growth plans and build on the recent success of its Project Edge network expansion. Sales director, Jo Cook; director of programmes and transformation, Alan Nichols; and commercial director, Louise Aitchison; all bring complementary expertise to further stimulate demand. Business is already booming and SSE Enterprise Telecoms has invested in more than 45 new staff to support SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ ambitious plans.

Prior to joining the SSE Enterprise Telecoms team, Jo Cook (née Macarty) – who brings 25 years worth of experience in networks, ICT and telecommunications to the role – was the director of Genetic Code Consulting and has held a number of senior sales and executive board level positions with companies including Huawei, Vodafone, Virgin Media Business and Level 3. Jo’s wealth of experience in enterprise sales is directly in line with SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ strategy to deliver high-capacity connectivity services right to the doorsteps of the UK’s largest and most demanding enterprises.

As director of programmes and transformation for SSE Enterprise Telecoms, Alan will be responsible for driving transformation within the business. His extensive experience in leading transformative projects was key to his appointment. Indeed, in his previous position within the SSE Group, as mobile programme director, Alan led the retail mobile programme to deliver a new mobile business unit for SSE. Before joining the Group, he also increased group valuation at Colt thanks to the creation, setup and delivery of four new businesses; and during his 16 year tenure at Vodafone, led its programmes & transformation function delivering all network programmes.

Louise has a rich history at SSE, having held a number of positions in her more than three year tenure at the company. After initially starting in the legal department, Louise moved into finance as commercial solicitor for the treasury and went on to lead the finance team in a transformation of the accounts payable function, along with a variety of other responsibilities, including the non-core disposals programme. Prior to SSE, Louise worked in finance and legal roles at RBS, AVIVA, Dundas & Wilson and DLA Piper. Louise also holds a broad range of academic and business qualifications, including a maths and statistics degree, actuarial diploma, LLB and diploma in legal practice. Louise’s role at SSE Enterprise Telecoms is to drive more commercial value for our customers as we move in to delivering more complex propositions alongside our partners.

“I extend a very warm welcome to Louise, Jo and Alan and I’m excited to begin this great new chapter in SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ history,” said Colin Sempill, managing director of SSE Enterprise Telecoms. “As an experienced legal and finance practitioner and having spent many years at SSE, Louise is in a great position to understand the bigger SSE picture. Jo’s vast experience in telecoms and enterprise sales makes her a real asset and is particularly important to us given our focus on serving UK businesses that have absolutely no tolerance to risk or downtime. Meanwhile, Alan will help us to continue the momentum achieved in the past year through Project Edge, by driving new transformative projects.”
