Equinix Inc’s flagship facility is the largest in Asia Pacific, and its third in Singapore. hurleypalmerflatt provided mechanical and electrical design services on the 7-storey data centre, a purpose-built facility which incorporates 35,000 sqm of colocation space and is able to host 5,000 cabinets at full build out.
This latest data centre, which opened in March, includes a number of energy efficiency measures, such as solar energy provision to power non-essential operations, and a hot air/cold air aisle designed to enhance cooling efficiency by separating equipment exhaust heat from cooling air circulation. In addition to achieving the platinum Green Mark award, other planned accreditations include LEED Gold.
Located at the hub of a rapidly expanding market, and the regions the most densely networked metropolitan area, the facility is the latest addition to Equinix, Inc’s virtual data centre campus, which also includes SG1, Singapore's most highly demanded data centre.
The facility has been designed to meet the requirements of the region’s increased mobile usage, demands from cloud computing and the expanding financial services sector, and offers a full range of premium colocation, interconnection and support services.
SG3 is also highly secure, protected by security fencing, blast resistant concrete walls, multiple checkpoints, perimeter security, hundreds of CCTV cameras, and 24/7-onsite security provided by trained staff.
Mark Simpson, regional director, hurleypalmerflatt comments, “we are very proud to have made a major contribution to Equinix's latest and largest project in Singapore, which has already been recognised for its outstanding energy efficiency performance. SG3 marks the completion of our very latest mission critical engineering project in Asia-Pacific, and our first with Equinix.”
