Colliers launches EMEA Data Centre team

Colliers International has launched a Data Centre solutions team as part of a rising trend to enable organisations from corporations to retailers, professional services to financial services, future-proof their IT capacity and capability.

The new business unit is focused on assisting National or Global businesses with projects in the EMEA region. Its services include consulting, investment, site sourcing and evaluation, research and colocation acquisitions.

The team of four is headed by Simon Ford whose experience on the client side and advisory side brings a new level of customer focus to the market. Ford explained, “The Data Centre market is maturing and we are seeing a new wave of demand from our clients for professional, trusted advice around third party Data Centre occupation and the cloud.

“It is no longer about ‘here is some space and some power, it is more about the value add services and access they can get from the Data Centre they are in. Businesses are now able to distribute applications across different environments depending on the nature of the enterprise needs. This means that they are no longer reliant on taking physical space but can now trade this for cloud space that is more cost effective and provides more or less capacity – as needed.”

In addition to Ford, the Data Centre team includes several new hires; Sarah Wilkinson, who joined Colliers in January 2015 from CBRE and brings extensive experience in occupier representation and investment in the European Data Centre market; William King, who joined in October 2014 from a Data Centre operator; and William Bellman from Colliers International. The team’s diverse skill sets and client-centric approach ensure that it brings a fresh and tailored approach to advising clients.
