Wind River has added new members to its Wind River Titanium Cloud ecosystem, a program dedicated to accelerating the deployment of solutions for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). The latest members include Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd., ConteXtream, Cyan, Intel® Security, Ixia, Qosmos and Spirent. They join existing partners: Artesyn, ASTRI, Brocade, GENBAND, HP, Kontron, Metaswitch, Nakina and Overture.

As the Titanium Cloud program expands, current members also continue to introduce new NFV solutions validated on the Wind River Titanium Server NFV infrastructure platform. As an example, Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) has introduced an LTE Small Cell Gateway and Security Gateway as virtual network functions (VNFs) optimized for Titanium Server.

“In order to accelerate their NFV deployment and reduce schedule risk, service providers are looking for validated, market-ready end-to-end NFV solutions,” said Charlie Ashton, senior director of business development for networking solutions at Wind River. “Our ecosystem is expanding rapidly, and with the addition of new members we continue to deliver the availability of optimized, interoperable solutions for service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs). In collaboration with our ecosystem partners, we are addressing several of the industry’s toughest NFV challenges, such as management and orchestration, security, and testing.”

"In NFV and the cloud alike, the software platform is the critical bridge between an exploding mix of features and applications and a pool of servers to host them. Platform software accelerates performance, improves resilience, and above all creates a consistent framework for deployment and operations that builds economy of scale,” said Tom Nolle, president, founder, and principal analyst of CIMI Corporation. “Wind River's Titanium Cloud ecosystem is the number one example of platform software for NFV and the cloud, and every new member both proves the value of the ecosystem and extends that value by adding integrated, critical platform features. The Titanium Cloud ecosystem is becoming the universal constant of NFV."

Through the Titanium Cloud program, partners validate and pre-integrate their hardware and software offerings with Wind River Titanium Server and deliver solutions ready for deployment in live NFV networks. Complementing the Wind River Titanium Server NFV infrastructure software, partners provide solutions at all other levels of the overall end-to-end architecture: OSS/BSS, orchestration, VNFs, and hardware server platforms.

Titanium Server is a carrier grade NFV infrastructure software solution that is designed to meet the "always on" requirements of the telecom industry. Titanium Server is based on open software standards including carrier grade Wind River Linux, real-time Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), carrier grade-enhancements to OpenStack®, Data Plane Development Kit (Intel DPDK), and accelerated virtual switching, all optimized for Intel architecture platforms.
