The Aireflow™ indirect fresh air free-cooling adiabatic air handling unit (100-440kW) delivers huge free-cooling potential and, being an indirect system, eliminates the risk of contaminated air entering the data centre. The use of fresh air as the predominant cooling source significantly reduces operational costs for users and, based on London ambient temperatures, could achieve ASHRAE recommended conditions using 100% free-cooling. In contrast with direct air handling units, indirect cooling solutions also reduce the dependency on back-up mechanical cooling required to prevent contaminated ambient air permeating the data centre. This ensures there is no requirement for internal air conditioning units, maximising IT footprint.
A fully working demonstration unit will be available on Airedale’s Stand no C32 at this year’s Data Centre World.
With its capacity to deliver up to 30% more cooling per kW/m2 than its nearest rival, Airedale’s SmartCool™ SD/SN/SR dedicated chilled water (CW) precision air conditioning (PAC) system (11-233kW) has, since last year’s show, picked up the title of ‘Datacentre Energy Efficiency Product of the Year’ in the Data Centre Solutions Awards in addition to H&V News ‘Commercial Building Services Product of the Year’ for 2014.
With low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants currently a hot topic in the light of the EU phase-down in the use of hydro-fluorocarbons (HFCs), the British manufacturer’s TurboChill™ & TurboChill™ FreeCool chiller with low GWP refrigerant R1234ze is generating a great deal of interest within the industry. The combination of the TurboChill’s centrifugal compressor part-load efficiency, modulated control, optimised head pressure control and potential for concurrent free-cooling, with the addition of R1234ze which has a 100-year GWP lower than 1, better than CO2, makes the TurboChill™ a highly sustainable cooling alternative.
Live demonstrations of the ACIS™ Building Management System (BMS) controls software are always a draw for visitors to Airedale’s stand. ACIS™ provides a highly graphical, simple-to-use tool to manage cooling and other building services, from any manufacturer, in a single, integrated system across multiple sites and communication protocols, providing 24/7 remote monitoring, optimising system operation and improving decision-making.
