Avere sponsored the effort with the OpenSSL Project's core development team to ensure that its support of FreeBSD is FIPS 140-2 Level 1 compliant. Not only does this ensure federal security compliance of all Avere products moving forward, but now any organization that wants to use FIPS-validated FreeBSD 9.2 OpenSSL software is free to do so.
