Imperva Inc. has announced the addition of two Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection services to its line-up of acclaimed DDoS offerings. DDoS protection has become a critical requirement for enterprises, e-commerce businesses and government organizations. In August 2014, Incapsula surveyed 270 North American businesses having at least 250 employees to get the facts related to DDoS attack frequency and costs. 45% of respondents indicated that their company had been hit by a DDoS attack at some point in the past. Of those, 91% reported an attack had occurred in the last 12 months and 70% were attacked two or more times. The estimated cost of these attacks is $40,000 per hour according to the survey respondents.

“DDoS attacks have become an unfortunate and very common fact of life for businesses with a web presence, and an attack can have a profound impact on an organization’s bottom line,” said Mark Kraynak, Chief Product Officer for Imperva. “The Incapsula DDoS protection services complement our SecureSphere application security solutions to provide Imperva customers with superior protection for their Internet presence.”

The Imperva suite of DDoS offerings delivers a multi-faceted approach to DDoS protection. Incapsula Infrastructure Protection protects entire subnets, secures all network elements, and inspects all incoming communication; Incapsula Name Server Protection safeguards DNS servers from DDoS attacks; and Incapsula Website Protection automatically detects and mitigates DDoS attacks launched at websites and web applications.
