Huawei commits to building a better connected Europe

Huawei has reinforced its commitment to building a better connected world by developing more innovative, simple and agile IT systems, at the Huawei Western Europe Enterprise Media Day 2014. At the conference, taking place in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Huawei showcased innovative IT solutions and entered into direct open dialogue with key figures of the Western European media and analysts on how the daily lives of people and businesses are being transformed by technological developments.

The Huawei Western Europe Enterprise Media Conference brings together over 50 of Europe’s leading technology journalists and industry analysts to learn about how Huawei is addressing the challenges posed by the changing nature of IT. It precedes the Huawei Western Europe CIO Forum, taking place on the same day in Amsterdam, where industry professionals from across Europe will share experiences and engage in discussion about making a better connected, technologically-enabled future a reality.

Leon He, President, Huawei Enterprise Western Europe said: “As every person – and eventually every object – becomes connected, every aspect of life will be redefined. In the business world, this explosion in the number of connections means that every company, whatever sector it is in, will become an ICT company. Huawei’s aim is to make IT simple for all businesses, and in the process make these businesses more agile.

Also at the Media Conference, Huawei announced the launch of its Cloud Fabric and Agile Branch solutions for agile networking. Together with a customer from the Amsterdam ArenA stadium where the Agile Network solution is deployed, Huawei shared details of successful use cases of the technology globally.

Leon Wang, Vice President of the Switch & Enterprise Communications Product Line, said: “Since its rollout in 2013, Huawei's Agile Network Solution has been deployed on more than 350 commercial networks across seven industries: government, finance, healthcare, large enterprise, transportation, education, and media and entertainment. As the core of the Agile Network architecture, Huawei's Agile Controller is capable of seamlessly connecting to customers' current service systems, significantly enhancing users' service experience and accelerating new service provisioning.”

The Media Day also saw the Western European launch of Huawei’s flagship converged storage solution, OceanStor V3. By converging multiple storage types, OceanStor improves multi-vendor system interoperability and space utilisation while reducing overall costs, allowing businesses to be more agile and to simplify storage-related processes.

Leaf Zheng, president of IT Product Line, Huawei said: “Huawei was the first vendor in the industry to launch converged storage data architecture, and since the launch of OceanStor V3 in the Chinese market it has been met with a warm reception from our customers. Huawei can now offer European customers the benefits of advanced cloud architecture-based data management systems.

“The OceanStor V3 series creates a new round of storage innovation and assists customers in transforming current storage systems from the traditional style to a more future-proof model. Based on cloud and software-defined concepts, the V3 series provides a simple, robust and efficient storage solution for the enterprise applications.
