FOUNDED IN PITTSBURGH, PA USA in 1922 as an electrical contracting firm, the company began manufacturing in the mid 1950’s, developing mobile electrification products under the US Safety Trolley name. The company’s focus on innovation continues to pave the way for safer, flexible and reliable power distribution systems. For more than 25 years, STARLINE Track Busway has provided mission critical and data center facilities with the most flexible, reliable and customizable power distribution systems on the market today. Target markets were more industrially focused in the beginning, but expanded into the laboratory, data center and mission critical applications in the early 1990’s.
The main benefits of the Track Busway product include reduced facility construction costs, faster installation, adding flexibility for the future, and your ability to customize solutions to fit your needs. Plug-in units can be disconnected and connected without de-energizing the busway and the product requires no routine maintenance and is faster and less costly to expand or remodel. By eliminates RPPs, you can make better use of costly floor space and by removing all power whips, you can improve cooling efficiency by reducing air dams caused by under floor cables
Now, because of the market’s growing need for energy efficiency, energy monitoring systems are more important than ever. The STARLINE Critical Power Monitor (CPM) offers an enhanced monitoring package that will allow you to monitor, integrate and display more data center power information easily and reliably. This revenue-grade power monitoring device effectively monitors power usage and distribution in the data center environment, enabling organizations to maximize energy management and efficiency.
“Data center activity represents a noticeable portion of the power consumed in the world at any given time. This makes the data center in every organization the epicenter for power management issues — from costs and consumption to energy efficiency,” said Mark Swift, Director of Marketing for Universal Electric Corporation. “The STARLINE CPM drills down to provide critical energy usage statistics so that data center managers can analyze the information and then can act upon it.”
Designed so that metering devices can be fully integrated into both STARLINE feed and plug-in unit applications of STARLINE Track Busway, the CPM can accommodate up to six current inputs, making it one of the few devices available on the busway market today that can monitor power consumption at the multiple receptacle level. Each device comes with an enhanced monitoring package which enables customers to monitor, integrate and display data center power consumption information.
The STARLINE CPM also comes with an easy-to-install, user-friendly web interface so that data center managers can quickly provision and implement. The CPM has choices on the connectivity options including both wired Ethernet and Modbus, and also has an optional 802.11n Wi-Fi version.
“By constantly monitoring power consumption right at the receptacle, we are giving data center managers the granularity of data necessary to effectively do their jobs,” added Swift. “Armed with this information, they can help ensure that the organization understands their power consumption and then make informed decisions about power management for the entire company.”
The STARLINE CPM is calibrated to meet American National Service Institute (ANSI) revenue grade standards for power usage and comes with a variety of communications interfaces that facilitate seamless integration with Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) packages.
