Huisman opts for IT infrastructure from Proact

Huisman, who is active worldwide in the development and production of heavy construction equipment for onshore and offshore companies, has chosen Proact to be the supplier of a new IT infrastructure. Proact delivers and implements the total solution, consisting of servers, storage and back-up for a total of eleven locations worldwide. Huisman has signed a five-year contract.

The management of the growing IT organisation was one of the main reasons for Huisman to start this project. In order to achieve this goal, data centralisation, standardisation and an infrastructure that could be centrally managed from the head office in Schiedam were high on the list of requirements.

Andre Faber, Global ICT Manager at Infra Huisman: "We have been able to work well together with Proact. Proact employees are professionals, and are enthusiastic and reliable. They are critical, and come up with good proposals and alternatives. Huisman is very satisfied with the result, which is within plan and budget, just as you'd expect.

The total solution delivered by Proact consists of NetApp systems, back-up software from CommVault and Cisco UCS-servers. Huisman thereby has a highly-scalable environment that ensures the performance and availability of applications and databases. A minimal impact on the performance and management of the NetApp storage environment is guaranteed through the maximum integration of NetApp snapshots from a single graphic user interface from the CommVault software for all back-up and restore tasks.

Lucas den Os, Managing Director of Proact Netherlands: The fact that, as Proact, we can provide the IT infrastructure for a globally operating organisation like Huisman fills us with pride. With its choice of Proact - and the IT infrastructure solution consisting of three strategic partners from our portfolio - Huisman has ensured its access to best-in-class, innovative products and services. We look forward to a successful and long-term cooperation.”
