Acquired from Imtech, the facility will be known as Zenium Frankfurt One and is located in Sossenheim, convenient for both the city centre and the airport. The building was completed in 2012 and comprises 5,000 sq m of net technical space. It is situated on a highly secure campus which will ultimately provide a total of 15,000 sq m across two additional buildings.
Being served by 110kV diverse feeds, the building has one of the most resilient power supplies available. The data center was also designed with energy efficiency in mind and will operate at a PUE of circa 1.3 when it reaches full capacity. The facility is carrier neutral and already served by a number of international telecommunications providers.
Franek Sodzawiczny, Zenium’s CEO, commented “In response to demand from our global customer base, this acquisition enables us to immediately bring new space to market in one of the most important European data center locations. Combining energy efficiency and the scope for scalability, Frankfurt One will allow us to introduce our innovative approach to high quality data center provision to this vibrant and growing market from the outset.”
Already occupied in part by a global telecommunications and cloud services provider, Frankfurt One will be operated by Zenium’s in-house specialist team.
The acquisition demonstrates Zenium’s business philosophy to invest in both emerging and established markets with strong customer demand and builds on the purchase of its campus - Istanbul One - in Turkey where development began in spring 2014 and for which the first tenant has already been signed.
Felix Colsman, member of the Board of Royal Imtech N.V. and Chief Executive of Imtech Deutschland, added “Technical expertise in data center construction is the core competence of our newly formed, dedicated data center business unit. We believe that Frankfurt One demonstrates Imtech’s specialist skills in data center design and build.”
