Rapid7 helps organisations implement stronger security

Rapid7 has announced enhancements to its critical security controls monitoring platform, Rapid7 ControlsInsight, to support Windows server controls and monitoring. Application and maintenance of security controls has been highlighted as a proven and effective means for organizations to proactively mitigate risk and monitor their networks. With the new release of ControlsInsight, customers will receive proactive guidance on how to align their security programs with best practices recommended by the SANS Institute, the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, and Rapid7’s own threat research.

“Security teams are under constant pressure to make the most impactful changes to ensure the security of their networks,” said Lee Weiner, senior vice president of Products and Engineering at Rapid7. “The latest release of ControlsInsight is another example of Rapid7’s ongoing commitment to helping customers cut through the noise and prioritize the most impactful actions they can take to improve the security of their organization.”

As information security teams are deploying more controls across their organization, they need to measure the effectiveness of these controls and systematically support changing network environments. The 2014 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report[1] called out attacks on web apps and web servers as the root of 35% of all attacks and described these servers as “the punching bag of the internet.” ControlsInsight allows companies to measure, analyze, and improve their controls across both Windows desktops and Windows servers. ControlsInsight delivers thorough analysis of 14 critical server controls that can help mitigate risk and reduce the likelihood of a successful attack.

Monitoring and managing controls across servers and endpoints is a critical part of an effective vulnerability management program. With ControlsInsight, Rapid7 is leading the vulnerability management market with this capability. Utilizing a patented intelligent threat model that ties the latest threats to effective mitigating controls, ControlsInsight provides a simple, yet powerful security score which helps customers take proactive steps to improve their security posture. The recently released support for Windows servers is the latest in a string of releases for the product, particularly the addition of RealContextTM to the ControlsInsight product line. With it security teams can view their security controls deployment and effectiveness based on business criticality quickly and easily.
