Chivas Brothers’ previous data storage estate had reached a performance plateau – with users requiring improved response times for data access. Chivas Brothers also wanted to improve the local availability of data across its sites - in the event of the company suffering an IT outage. Chivas Brothers decided to initiate a complete SAN refresh project involving replacing its HP EVA fibre channel disc storage platform, across the full business, covering services for key business applications.
Chivas Brothers awarded the project to HP and CSA Waverley. CSA Waverley’s team worked very closely with the HP and Chivas Brothers’ MIS team to deliver a new 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage platform, with bi-directional replication to Chivas Brothers’ Scottish-based DR and London sites. Cost was also key for Chivas Brothers and the solution was deemed as best value – when funded as a capital expense.
HP and CSA Waverley’s teams ensured that the solution delivery schedule was brought forward, so Chivas Brothers could experience the solution’s benefits at an earlier date. Chivas Brothers now have a leading-edge, highly efficient, cost-effective and available storage environment. A better end-user experience is being achieved, with faster data access times for Chivas Brothers’ end-users.
Les Gilfillan, Network Manager at Chivas Brothers said, “The CSA Waverley and HP teams really helped us with their technical skills and highly effective planning to ensure that the project was delivered smoothly - on time and budget. We now possess a flexible, high performing and available storage environment.”
