Rompetrol chooses VCE Vblock

The decision was made primarily to help ensure the scalable capacity needed to support the company’s expectations for data growth and introduction of new projects, but also to improve performance, security and functionality.

KMG International will run multiple mission-critical applications on its new VCE converged infrastructure, including Microsoft Exchange, Group Business Intelligence, Terminal Automation System, CRM and the continuation of its SAP rollout to other group entities. It will also address business continuity through a new IT disaster recovery strategy and process.

“Over the last 3 years, KMG International has deployed a series of critical business applications in the virtual environment. However, a deep technical analysis of our previous IT infrastructure revealed limited storage capacity, very low CPU and cache utilization and increasing response times. We realized that a complete transformation of our IT was required to cope with the business objectives and exponential data growth, but also to eliminate any potential downtime risk. We decided that a technology refresh offered better budget utilisation and long-term benefits than investing in maintaining an already inefficient platform, so that’s why we chose to migrate to the new Vblock System 340.” said Marcel Chiriac, CIO, KMG International.

The new Vblock Systems will accommodate KMG International’s business applications on a private cloud model, ensuring a high degree of scalability in deploying new projects, but also improved operational efficiency.

The increased storage capacity and performance will allow the group of companies to provide enhanced email services mitigate license compliance risks and develop a solid foundation for corporate document management.
