Fujitsu extends ‘Cluster-in-a-box’ offering

Fujitsu delivers continuous availability to protect important data and business-critical services for mid-sized organisations and branch offices – at a minimal investment of money, administration skill and time. The complete new generation of Cluster-in-a-box, built on the latest generation of proven FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY technology and the solid-state drive-enabled Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2, offers a risk free, ready-to-run, highly available and easy-to-configure solution in a single enclosure.

When it comes to high availability (HA) within ICT projects, end customers are often deterred by fears that the solution is too complex, too expensive, too time consuming or too difficult to work with, especially for smaller projects. For this reason, mid-sized organisations and branch offices with intensive compute and storage requirements are often looking for a simplified, yet fail-safe and integrated IT infrastructure. Ideally this should additionally be trouble free to source, implement and operate while delivering the benefits of virtualisation. Fujitsu’s Cluster-in-a-box meets exactly these needs – it is a balanced combination of two servers, shared storage, and networking components in one compact enclosure which optionally also includes virtualisation. Furthermore, the system can be run at everyday ambient temperatures without the need for a dedicated cooling environment.

Fujitsu’s Cluster-in-a-box is based either on the FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY BX400 blade servers or the FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY CX420 density-optimised servers. Both systems offer a stable, future-proof basis for high availability infrastructures and are equipped with Intel Xeon processors. The operating systems, Microsoft Windows Server 2012R Datacentre or Microsoft Windows Server 2012R Standard, are pre-installed on servers in the high availability cluster.

The Cluster-in-a-box has a single order code for the entire predefined HA configuration. Alternatively, variables such as CPU, memory and disks can all be ordered individually via a simplified system configuration process. There is also a free choice of operating system editions and network connections. In the case of FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY BX400 the form factor – stand -alone or rackable – can even be selected.

Fujitsu’s Cluster-in-a-box can additionally be used as a Windows NAS Storage device. Thanks to the newly released disk extensions with FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS JX60, overall storage capacity can be extended to 72 or even 140 disks.
