“Data centres must provide the right level of security, compliance and latency,” explains Jim Tyer, EMEA channel director, AppRiver. “We decided to deploy servers in Switzerland because of the country’s high standards of legal security, economic and social stability, and comprehensive data protection.”

Swiss data centres have long had a reputation for being some of the safest in the world. In fact, AppRiver‘s Zurich West Data Centre has been awarded Uptime Institute’s Tier III Design Certification and is certified in accordance with ISO 27001 Information Security and ISO 50001 Comprehensive Energy Management.
Swiss Telecommunications Company, Swisscom AG, recently took notice and started using AppRiver’s CipherPost Pro email encryption solution for its Microsoft Office 365 and Hosted Exchange customers.

“The market for Telcos and ISPs pose unique challenges,” said Tyer. “But with AppRiver, solutions are easy to use, cost effective and secure. Customer data remains in Switzerland, thereby adding an important layer of protection for those who wish to keep customer information secure.”

Emails often travel long distances before reaching the inbox. CipherPost Pro combines email encryption, certified email delivery, secure file transfer and light-weight data loss prevention into one seamless offering. The product also “wraps” around any existing email infrastructure or application so organizations do not have to replace technology that is currently in place, including their email addresses or email programs.

A SaaS-based solution, CipherPost Pro enables rapid new customer deployments and is centrally managed so IT professionals can easily see the number of users, determine the amount of storage available for secure email attachments, and review usage analysis and other system data. The solution also provides unique functionality in its patented "Delivery Slip," which allows authorized individuals to see multiple characteristics about a given message, such as who sent it, who received it and how it was handled, including deletions, forwards and attachment downloads-all time-stamped and with corresponding IP addresses.

“Data protection is becoming more critical as organisations move to the cloud,” notes Tyer. “As a result, some businesses are looking to Switzerland for help securing their sensitive information and protecting the data that governs their business.”
