Datum supports its commitment to energy efficiency with ISO50001

Datum Datacentres has achieved ISO50001:2011 accreditation, meeting a comprehensive set of requirements to ensure effective energy management.

ISO 50001 builds on Datum's existing ISO27001 and 9001 accreditation and PCI DSS compliance to continue to demonstrate Datum's ability to deliver a secure and energy efficient environment for its clients' critical IT infrastructures. Datum's accreditation to ISO 50001 is underpinned by an effective energy management system, a Plan-Do-Check-Act continual improvement framework and its energy efficient free cooling system.

The purpose of the ISO 50001 International Standard is to enable organizations to establish the systems and processes necessary to improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, use, and consumption. Implementation of this standard as practised by Datum is intended to lead to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, energy cost, and other related environmental impacts, through systematic management of energy.

Commenting on gaining ISO 50001 accreditation, Dominic Phillips, Managing Director, says "Environmental concerns and energy efficiency are critical to us and to our clients. We are delighted to be able to offer clients ISO 50001 to enable them to demonstrate to their board, their clients and other stakeholders that their critical IT infrastructure is co-located in a leading-edge and energy efficient data centre. As a secure provider of colocation for business critical data, we place great importance on accreditations that support our clients' businesses and demonstrate our focus on quality and service - ISO 50001 is another example."
