LDeX Group makes plans to enhance connectivity offering with the addition of a LINX virtual PoP

LDeX Group plans to enhance its connectivity offering with the addition of a virtual PoP from the London Internet Exchange (LINX). LINX intends to build a transmission point of presence at the group's London based LDeX1 datacentre facility which will be connected back to a LINX edge switch at Interxion.

As one of the global leaders of Internet Exchange Points (IXP), the addition of LINX to the LDeX1 datacentre facility will allow existing and new members alike to peer directly on the LINX Juniper LAN from the LDeX1 data centre with the availability of both Gig and 10Gig ports.

With over 520 members from 60 different countries worldwide, LINX is the world's largest membership association for Internet Service Providers and other major network operators. The organisation handles over 4 Terabytes per second (Tbps) of peak traffic on behalf of its members and has over 10 Tbps of capacity on its' public peering platform.

Commenting on the news, LDeX Group CEO Rob Garbutt said: "We are delighted to be working with LINX to bring a transmission point of presence at the LDeX1 site. Aligning the company with best in class partners such as LINX has always been a strategic priority for LDeX in delivering superior value added datacentre and network services to our customers."

Ben Hedges, Head of Marketing and Business Development at LINX added: "The LINX vPoP programme has been developed to give UK network operators even more ways to connect to the exchange and we are delighted to be working with LDeX to launch the first of what we expect to be many similar initiatives with data centre operators where-ever there is a LINX operated IXP."
