Cloud on Demand moves to Teraco

South African cloud vendor and hybrid cloud enablement partner, Cloud on Demand, has selected Teraco Data Environments as its second point of presence and one of its local deployment locations for its VMWare platform. This move ensures that the company is able to deliver true flexibility through a Software-Defined Data Centre. Cloud on Demand CEO Jonathan Kropf says that the move to Teraco was part of the company’s plans to ensure location is an integral part of the company’s failover strategy: “We are in the business of helping customers embrace cloud technology and as a result the correct choice of our own date centre and its location was essential.”

According to Kropf cloud is not seen as a product for the company: “Cloud is who we are and choosing Teraco will give us peace of mind, knowing that we can confidently move our customers computing services into the cloud, safe in the knowledge that we are utilising best of breed technologies and partners.”
He says that the company already has management nodes running and is planning to extend this implementation: “Connectivity is the biggest headache, but thanks to Teraco this is made easier with the NAPAfrica peering solution.” In addition, Kropf says Cloud on Demand will have room to expand its infrastructure and offer local services to the tenants within Teraco.

“Being located at Teraco gives us easy access to partners, customers and communications providers to further grow our business and ecosystem. The geographical spread of data centres also allows us to offer local services in major centres,” says Kropf.

Teraco Data Environments CEO, Lex van Wyk says that the company is delighted to welcome a subsidiary of the MB Technologies group: “It’s encouraging to see Cloud on Demand take full advantage of Teraco’s market-leading infrastructure, vendor neutral status and the benefits of peering at the NAPAfrica Internet eXchange Point (IXP). I look forward to seeing them grow and expand as a result.”
