Pragsis Technologies signs partnership agreement with MapR

Bidoop business unit selects MapR as technology foundation to deliver security, availability and performance requirements for enterprise customers.

MapR Technologies, Inc. says that Pragsis Technologies, an IT service and solution specialist with offices in Spain, Mexico and Brazil, has become a certified partner to deliver enterprise-class features to enhance a growing number of big data projects.

The MapR Distribution for Apache Hadoop will be used extensively by Bidoop, a business unit of Pragsis Technologies that was set up in 2012 to focus exclusively on big data and Hadoop. Bidoop has invested over 2 million Euros in research and development and currently serves several major clients including Inditex, Iberdrola and Telefónica.

As Sourygna Luangsay, CTO for Pragsis Technologies, explained, “The MapR Distribution is the only one in the market that provides the type of features for big data environments similar to the high availability, data protection and disaster recovery requirements we expect from our existing NAS and SAN environments.”

Luangsay also highlighted the ability to subdivide a cluster to support different use cases, job types and user groups as well as enterprise-class security authorisation, wire-level authentication and data governance as key features. “In the past, such unique features have been requested by some of our customers but were not easily deliverable within the traditional Hadoop framework. MapR now allows us to solve these problems and deliver the solutions our customers expect,” Luangsay added.

“Pragsis Technologies is highly regarded for its technical engineering and its selection of MapR to solve real-world, enterprise big data problems is a great validation,” said Xavier Guerin, vice president Southern Europe and Benelux for MapR Technologies. “We look forward to working closely with Pragsis Technologies to help drive through a number of high-level projects that we currently have at the proof-of-concept stage.”
