Two world ‘firsts’ unveiled

ATEN has unveiled what it believes to be are two world firsts in an R&D drive to remain ahead of oncoming data centre energy restriction legislation and rising energy costs. The new product range, NRGenceTM, provides the first real-time indexed environmental monitoring and reporting solution, with the first power overload protection device.

This high-tech Power Distribution Unit (PDU)-based solution range is the first to provide real-time Rack Cooling Index (RCI) and Return Temperature Index (RTI) monitoring, with a remote energy consumption management system, to help maintain optimal rack temperatures.
NRGenceTM is also the first to include a data centre power overload protection device, which prevents localised abnormalities from triggering indiscriminate equipment shutdowns. This provides much-needed confidence regarding the power demand peaks normally expected after new data centre hardware installations.

“Our R&D division is innovating for where Facilities Management (FM) and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) are converging. This is the first in a series of ground-breaking data centre technology solutions we plan to launch this year – you won’t have to ‘watch this space’ for long before you see what’s coming next,” said James Liu, managing director of ATEN UK.
