"There is tremendous R&D synergy between IoT networking and our traditional Carrier and Enterprise markets," said Martin Nuss, CTO for Vitesse. "Many of the capabilities that Vitesse developed for Carrier Ethernet, such as low power, security, deterministic performance and accurate time synchronization, are key features for IoT networks. Vitesse is committed to serving this growing segment with our technology and solutions, with a goal of making it 20% of our business within three years."

"Vitesse is a long-term supplier of Ethernet switching and PHY technology, with over 250 million Gigabit Ethernet ports shipped," said Uday Mudoi, vice president of product marketing for Vitesse. "IoT is a fast growing segment for Vitesse, accounting for over 20% of our design wins last quarter. Customers recognize that our Carrier Ethernet networking expertise and technologies can readily meet IoT networking requirements with commercially available solutions today."

EcoEthernet, Intellisec, and VeriTime: Tailored for Next-Generation IoT Networking Needs
Machines and all kinds of equipment are increasingly intelligent and require more and faster network connectivity. IoT networks are experiencing rapid growth and transformation and, like the Carrier networks before them, are migrating to Gigabit Ethernet (GE). Vitesse's technologies -- embedded in its low-power, reliable, and secure Ethernet switch, 1GE PHY, 10GE PHY portfolio -- are uniquely positioned to address these challenges:
· Ethernet Energy Efficiency (EEE): Gigabit Ethernet links typically compound energy usage by drawing power at near full levels even while standing idle, waiting for data packets. Vitesse's EcoEthernet(TM) 2.0 enables EEE PHYs to significantly reduce power by during idle periods with active links, delivering energy savings of up to 85-percent compared to 1000BASE-T full data rate;

· Security: Security is vital to IoT networks, especially as the number of connected 'things' continues its massive growth. Vitesse's Intellisec(TM), a Layer-2 IEEE 802.1AE MACsec encryption technology, provides a low cost, low-power and easily scalable network-level security mechanism;
· Network Timing: Synchronization is crucial to IoT networks to ensure that connected devices have accurate clocks for data acquisition and system control. Vitesse's VeriTime(TM), the industry's de facto highest accuracy IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol implementation for nanosecond-accurate network timing and synchronization, is a field-proven timing solution that meets the deterministic requirements of IoT networks.
