Gridstore has announced the appointment of Andy Hill as Vice President of EMEA Sales. After nearly 17 years working in the storage sector, he is a highly experienced and successful channel and sales executive.

As Gridstore looks to establish itself in the EMEA market this experience will become invaluable, as John Ferraro, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Channel at Gridstore explains: “I am delighted to welcome Andy to the team as we execute on the next phase of rapid growth and product innovation as the leading provider of software-defined storage optimised to accelerate vital application and VM performance. Andy brings to Gridstore a rare blend of sales and management expertise across today’s most transformative technologies in storage, virtualisation, and cloud.”

Ferraro continues: “We see EMEA as a key market for 2014, so bringing on board an executive of this calibre who has excelled in the storage market was going to be crucial to help us achieve our ambitions here. Andy certainly ticks all the boxes when it comes to the key skills we were looking for and I’m looking forward to working with him and growing the business in EMEA.”

Hill spent over seven years at Nexsan Technologies where he has been responsible for all revenue generation and business development covering EMEA. Before joining Nexsan he spent time at SunGuard Availability Services and over three years at S3 (Solid State Solutions). He was also previously part of the VERITAS Software team that was acquired by Symantec.

Hill believes that there is a real opportunity for Gridstore to make an impact in the EMEA marketplace: “I have joined Gridstore as I believe it has the technology and solutions that can make a real difference to EMEA customers. It is a highly competitive market but Gridstore has an edge on other companies in the space, highlighted by the depth of experience in the senior management team – a team I’m delighted to now be a part of.
“In such a competitive market it is important to have stand out products that can make a real difference to customers. Gridstore has addressed the main storage issues encountered in virtual environments severely impacting application performance by taking a Software Defined Storage approach. Its three unique methods of achieving this means that we have a great positioning in the market and one I know end-users will be keen to hear about.”
