Aculab has partnered with Dell OEM Solutions to provide the server platform for the company’s market-leading GroomerII gateway appliance.

Aculab’s GroomerII is used by many large telecommunications providers worldwide for integrating internet-based telephony with traditional telephony systems. Aculab chose to partner with Dell OEM solutions to provide a superior and trusted platform for its gateway and a rapid procurement capability that delivers to short lead times.

“We were impressed with the quality and reliability of Dell OEM Solutions and in particular the Dell PowerEdge R720t server with Intel Xeon processors E5-2600 series, which is certified for use by telecom companies worldwide,” said Chris Brown, engineering and quality manager at Aculab. “The partnership with Dell provides Aculab with server lifecycle control as well as a fully Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) compliant platform, which is critical for our telecom customers in the US that are using GroomerII to support 911 emergency services and to handle calls originating in fixed and mobile Signalling System 7 networks.”

Through its partnership with Dell OEM Solutions, Aculab is able to fulfil orders for GroomerII faster than ever before and can now provide customers with a fully customised and ready-to-go solution within days rather than weeks. The server arrives from Dell already branded with a customised bezel rather than as a ‘bare bones’ chassis meaning that Aculab simply has to install the GroomerII software, install expansion cards, conduct systems testing and it’s ready to ship. Removing the need to assemble the product on site means that Aculab’s product engineering resource is more productive and the company can provide a quicker turnaround on fulfilling customer orders.

Chris Brown continued: “With the lead time for ordering a server fundamentally reduced, we are now much more agile, which is great for the company and for our customers. When a Dell PowerEdge R720t server arrives, we only have to carry out a small amount of work to get it ready to ship. We are saving around 48 hours per server with Dell OEM Solutions, because there is significantly less for us to do. Our customers are benefitting from faster lead times as well as a highly stable Dell PowerEdge server platform that is NEBS compliant, featuring best-in-class components such as Intel Xeon processors.”

A significant benefit of Aculab’s partnership with Dell OEM Solutions is its IT Lifecycle Management Service. Dell PowerEdge R720t servers consist of components from other manufacturers and any changes to these components can affect the Aculab software. As part of the IT Lifecycle Management Service, Dell OEM Solutions works closely with Aculab to manage any change ensuring customers benefit from continuity of performance.
