Red Hat and Avaloq collaborate

Avaloq Banking Suite to support Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Avaloq tabbed as Red Hat Advanced ISV Partner.

Red Hat, Inc. and the Avaloq Group, an international leader in integrated and comprehensive banking solutions, have announced that the Avaloq Banking Suite will support Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Starting with Avaloq Banking Suite 3.7, available in November 2013, Avaloq’s extensive customer network, including tier one banking institutions in the world’s most demanding financial centers, will now be able to integrate their core banking systems with the world’s most trusted enterprise Linux platform. Previously, the Avaloq Banking Suite primarily ran on proprietary UNIX.

By adding support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Avaloq is answering the financial sector’s increasing interest in innovative open source solutions across the entire organization. Banks are seeking alternatives to proprietary solutions, as they face enormous pressure to reduce costs and manage shrinking IT budgets. Additionally, these same institutions must deal with the end-of-life of aging UNIX systems, a challenge that open source and particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux can help address.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux can benefit Avaloq and its customers in a variety of ways, including improved transparency, enhanced security, and vendor independence. By running the Avaloq Banking Suite with Red Hat Enterprise Linux on x86 servers, Avaloq aims to further reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for its existing customers and to enable the company to tap into new financial markets.

Red Hat has also named the banking solution specialist as an Advanced ISV Partner. Red Hat’s Advanced ISV Business Partners receive enhanced support from Red Hat including detailed technical support for new integrated application releases and access to beta versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux for faster optimization with the latest platform features.
