The art of energy management

Socomec’s Power, Control and Safety division wins energy management contract for the new Damien Hirst gallery, scheduled to open in London 2014.

Socomec’s Power Control and Safety (PCS) UK division has recently won a prestigious energy management contract for the new Damien Hirst gallery, scheduled to open in South London during 2014.

Damien Hirst, one of Britain’s most famous living artists, plans to open a public gallery in which to exhibit and house his own personal collection of art. The gallery will take up the entirety of Newport Street in Vauxhall, and will incorporate the conversion of a long terrace of three listed buildings, as well as two new buildings. The space will include six galleries, a restaurant and offices for the artist’s own use.

The effective management of energy consumption is vital within this extensive building and renovation project. Working in partnership with TF Tull – an independent buildings control specialist that designs, manufactures and commissions control systems and panels – Socomec will supply a suite of energy management technology from its Power, Control and Safety division, including the Diris A10 meter alongside the Socomec transformer range.
Socomec’s Diris A10 modular multifunction meter measures electrical values in low voltage networks, providing support to installations in terms of energy metering, power monitoring and power quality analysis.

TF Tull’s control panels will use Socomec’s PCS Sirco range of load break switches, designed for the safe manual disconnection of a power supply.
Andrew Wilkinson, Regional Managing Director, Socomec comments; “Socomec has a strong track record with TF Tull, having delivered a previous project together for Cambridge University’s new Materials & Science building. We are delighted to be working with TF Tull on optimising the energy management systems within this exciting new space.”
