Red Hat enables enterprises to open new Channels of self-service with JBoss Portal 6.1

Red Hat, Inc. has announced the availability of Red Hat JBoss Portal 6.1. The latest version of Red Hat’s lean portal technology enables enterprises to accelerate self-service application development and integrate information, people, and processes to create an experience that is seamless with a customer's everyday activities. With integration to popular social media websites and new mobile capabilities, JBoss Portal 6.1 enables enterprises to better attract and retain customers with superior self-service.


JBoss Portal provides enterprises with the ability to accelerate the creation and deployment of high-impact, innovative web applications that offer real-time, personalized engagement with their customers, partners, or citizens. Due to its lightweight architecture, ability to perform at scale, and ease of integration into existing infrastructure, JBoss Portal is well-suited to meet a variety of needs and use cases, including extending market reach with external websites, delivering online customer self-service, acting as the foundation for a white-label product, or empowering partner networks.


JBoss Portal 6.1 offers a number of key features and capabilities designed to help enterprises build innovative customer experiences, including:
• Integration with Facebook, Google+, and Twitter, which gives users the ability to log-in using their third-party credentials as well as share information and updates between the portal application and the social media website.
• Device detection rules that can be set by administrators to automatically redirect users to a mobile-friendly version of the website. In technology preview, an adaptive user interface allows JBoss Portal to render the appropriate layout for each page using mobile-optimized HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Public navigation APIs that let application developers build navigation portlets, giving users the ability to tailor their experience with customized menus.
• A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) that describes how JBoss Portal supports accessibility for people with disabilities in compliance with Section 508 of the U.S. Workforce Rehabilitation Act.
