Zadara’s availability in Europe typifies the cloud and software-defined movements in the region that is making organisations more agile and saving both CapEx and OpEx costs – while delivering robust, enterprise-proven features like NAS and volume sharing, not typically associated with cloud storage. Zadara’s solution is on display at IP Expo in London this week in booth G42.
eircom is Ireland largest technology and telecommunications company, with extensive carrier- neutral data centre services in Dublin. eircom has the most extensive telecommunications network in Ireland and provides a comprehensive range of advanced voice, data and broadband services to the residential, small business, enterprise and government markets. With Zadara on board, AWS customers in Europe can leverage highly-flexible, enterprise-grade storage solutions with minimal up-front and on-going costs for a wide range of enterprise-scale applications, from databases and other mission-critical applications, to high-capacity big data and online repositories.
Zadara features include volume-sharing, NAS and dedicated spindles, and allows for scaling of capacity and performance up or down on-demand, and permitting unprecedented user self-service provisioning and administrative control under completely private environments. Customers concerned with data custody regulations have the ability to know the physical location of their data and control access to it, in support of EU privacy rules. The Zadara service allows enterprises to cost-efficiently address fluctuations in demand and support customers as their business grows. Already leading organisations in Europe have taken advantage of Zadara’s VPSA and found it met even their most demanding needs.
Zadara’s technology works by providing IT managers a complete, turnkey storage service in which they provision the exact capacity and performance they need – assembling their storage online with a few clicks, and managing them with their own dedicated admin console. In cooperation with AWS, eircom and others, Zadara places dedicated, flexibly deployed hardware at AWS Direct Connect Facilities with private, high-speed network connections into AWS data centres, so cloud-delivered performance remains exceptional even for massive data volumes. The company’s architecture can also be leveraged by enterprise data centre administrators maintaining their own virtualised datacentres. Zadara’s VPSA can serve as either primary (for applications) or secondary (for repository) storage.
Based on present exchange rates, Zadara Storage will be released at prices starting from 0.86€ per hour for 6 TB of fully protected, highly available, sharable storage. Pricing can scale up or down depending on the customer’s performance and capacity requirements.
“European organisations big and small are ready for a transformative solution like Zadara’s,” said Jason O’Conaill, Head of Cloud and Data Centres at eircom. “We’re proud to help organisations who leverage the AWS platform to access cost-effective, cloud-based storage without giving up the enterprise class features they are used to having with on-premises storage resources.”
“We are delighted to partner with eircom and enable AWS EU customers to gain a competitive edge by using our Enterprise Storage as a Service (STaaS) solution,” said Nelson Nahum, CEO of Zadara Storage. “By providing, together with eircom, the clustering, privacy, predictability and control enterprise applications require, AWS customers across Western Europe can move their business applications to the powerful AWS cloud to access its scale and economics along with enterprise storage management and reliability.”
