Enabling application and usage analysis in local, virtual and cloud environments

Tailored modules, using three dimensional data reporting, to accelerate asset management, Windows XP migration, cloud and virtualisation projects. Centrix Software has announced the latest version of its WorkSpace iQ suite; giving organisations the essential analytics information they need to make decisions about their desktop environment, applications and IT infrastructure.

The new release enables analysis of app, device and content usage and resource utilisation across desktop, web, virtual and cloud environments. This provides essential information needed for cloud, virtualisation, Microsoft Windows migrations and app usage optimisation decisions.
WorkSpace iQ 6.0, a cloud-based SaaS solution, includes four new modules tailored to solve specific IT transformation and management issues; enabling customers to make an informed choice on the technology they need.

According to a recent Gartner report, “IT operations departments are under pressure from the consumerization of IT to simplify their IT environments and the consumption of the services they provide. Furthermore, as enterprises increase their adoption of dynamic technologies — such as the cloud, social, mobility and hosted virtual desktops (HVDs) — that enable flexible styles of computing, IT operations must become more proactive to deliver on the promises and opportunities that these technologies and processes are creating.”*

Application iQ is the foundation of WorkSpace iQ, delivering rich, deep insight into application and device usage; taking advantage of the Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse for powerful three dimensional desktop analytics and reporting. It provides complete app usage information and hardware/software inventory; for making informed decisions about software assets and how to best optimise licensing levels to match usage behaviour patterns.

This module is the foundation for three new options:
Desktop iQ – based on real-time usage data, this highlights which apps should be migrated or left behind when moving to a new operating environment. This can reduce the migration app packaging phase by up to 40 per cent, accelerating overall migration timelines and reducing costs.
Virtualisation iQ – provides analysis of user workstyles and resources utilised, when apps and content are used. It enables virtualisation infrastructures to be right-sized, while still delivering great user performance. Understanding how to optimise virtualisation storage and infrastructure can save as much as 67 per cent of costs.

Cloud iQ – around 80 per cent of a typical organisation’s employees are suitable for immediate cloud app migration. This module identifies the current usage and licence liability of cloud apps - and highlights the right apps and users to move to the cloud, so that early benefits can be achieved.
Paul Burke, VP of Product Management at Centrix Software said, “A shift is needed from static app management techniques to a greater focus on the analysis of usage data; in order to deal with today’s numerous IT challenges, such as the growth of BYOD, the trend to deliver apps in the cloud and the drive to virtualise. The WorkSpace iQ 6.0 Suite provides users with the usage analytics and tools they need to be productive; identifying significant opportunities to reduce cost and remove inefficiencies in desktop IT delivery.”
