“Jim’s impact on the knowledge base within today’s business community has been profound. Few people have done more to train young executives in information technology than he has,” said John W. Thompson, CEO of Virtual Instruments. “I am happy to have him join our board and look forward to having him work closely with our leadership team.”

During his tenure at Harvard, Jim taught in all the major HBS programmes, including the MBA programme, the programme for Management Development, the programme for Global Leadership and the Advanced Management Programme. Jim has published books on information systems management and technology as well as many articles in the leading accounting, business and computer journals.

Jim currently serves as a director for a number of prominent organisations, including General Electric, Wal-Mart, Chubb, The Smithsonian Institution National Museum of African American History and Culture, The Boston Celtics and the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation. In 2011, he was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Texas Christian University, a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Graduate School of Mathematical Science at Purdue University and his PhD in Management Information Systems from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.

“Virtual Instruments is an exciting, fast-growing company with a strong leadership team,” said Jim Cash. “In just a few short years since its founding, large enterprise organisations around the world have come to rely on the company’s infrastructure performance management platform to enable the performance of their IT infrastructure. I’m delighted to join VI’s board of directors.”
