Siemon opens data centre demonstration suite

Siemon has opened a data centre training and demonstration suite for its clients. The specialist facility takes over the top floor of the manufacturer’s UK headquarters in Chertsey, on the outskirts of London, and will be the venue for a calendar of events and training programmes.

Equipped to showcase the latest data centre infrastructure, the demonstration suite houses Siemon’s complete ‘ecosystem’. Central to this are the innovative VersaPOD™ cabinets with ultra-high-density, space optimising, zero-U patching capacity. Complementing this cabinet’s air flow enhancing design, various cooling approaches are illustrated, including cold aisle containment, chimney air ducts and the latest IcePack liquid heat exchanger.
Both optical fibre and high-performance copper cabling are shown in operation in the data centre suite. Plug and play fibre is installed, including high density 96 port 1U panels. The copper solutions include Siemon’s fully shielded category 6A/class EA Z-MAX® system and category 7A/class FA TERA® system which boasts the highest performance of any twisted-pair copper cabling system available.

Beyond the space saving density, Siemon also demonstrates the latest security features, with the physical protection of LockITTM and the control afforded by the intelligent infrastructure management of MapIT® G2. The latter is shown in live operation, with real time benefits of network-wide visibility for the operator.

Explaining the investment in this new data centre demonstration and industry training facility, Lyndsey Parham, marketing communications manager for Siemon EMEA, said, “This site allows us to show the quality of our complete data centre offering and affords customers the chance to both see the systems in operation and experience them hands-on. It has already proved popular with end users, consultants and installers, who are all impressed with the proof of practical application. Running live tests proves the most convincing evidence and providing those in the industry with practical training supports our ethos of complete quality.”

According to Siemon, this is the first of a number of data centre demonstration facilities that the company is working on in EMEA, with the intention of opening more later this year. The UK site offers more than just physical demonstrations - it is also the hub for technical training, managed by industry expert, Lee Funnell.

The final word goes to Lyndsey Parham, “For those making decisions about data centre infrastructure and design, this facility gives a complete, end-to-end experience, allowing every aspect of the DC ecosystem to be considered and thoroughly evaluated. We welcome visitors from across the industry and expect this data centre demonstration suite to be instrumental in many key decisions.”
