Atos SE, an international IT service provider, is upgrading its network supporting two data centers in the Finnish capital area with Coriant’s optical networking platform hiT 7300 and Telecommunication Network Management System (TNMS). This Brocade-certified upgrade, enabling 40G (gigabits per second) and 100G in parallel, will empower Atos to seamlessly integrate traffic between its original data center and the secondary site, established in 2012.

Atos operates some of Finland’s most advanced data centers, supporting clients’ needs for advanced hi-tech and managed services. With Coriant’s intelligent optical networking solution consisting of the hiT 7300 DWDM platform optimized for lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) and TNMS, a highly scalable network management system, Atos will have one of the first data center networks capable of supporting client services from 40G to 100G. The seamless growth in capacity will allow Atos to deliver a wide variety of services to its clients, including 10GbE (Gigabit Ethernet) and fiber channels (FC-4G and FC-8G). In addition, Coriant is providing Atos with professional services, specifically for installation, integration, testing and support. This deployment builds upon a long-standing relationship between Coriant and Atos SE.

“Coriant’s DWDM platform and management system enables us to provide truly reliable high capacity connections across our critical data centers sites while eliminating complexity and latency”, says Pauli Sinivuori, Head of Network, Security and Communication Services, Atos. “Our relationship with Coriant continues to grow - largely a result of their deep understanding of advanced networking, the ability to introduce creative new ways to design and support high-performance networks, and their fast time-to-service combined with great support and future-proof solutions.”

“We worked very closely with Atos to meet their critical network evolution needs as bandwidth demand between their data center sites began to grow exponentially,“ said Herbert Merz, President and CEO, Coriant. “Our advanced optical networking solution provides Atos a new level of optical layer efficiency, scalability and automation that enables them to deliver enhanced service value to their end-user customers.”
