ADVA FSP 150 delivers sub-microsecond timing

ADVA Optical Networking says that its FSP 150 is capable of delivering sub-microsecond timing accuracy for time-critical trading applications. Developed as a specific response to customers in the investment and finance community, the ADVA FSP 150 delivers superior synchronization, enabling the most precise trading decisions available. The ADVA FSP 150's unique timing distribution and assurance capabilities will prove to be a key competitive edge in high-performance financial trading applications.

"Today's financial community is continually pushing the boundaries of what networks are capable of, continually striving for that extra competitive edge," said Christoph Glingener, CTO, ADVA Optical Networking. "In this environment, microseconds are the difference between success and failure. That's why what we're doing is so important. We're moving synchronization from thousandths of a second to millionths of a second. What's more, this is from anywhere in the network. This shift in performance could become a real game changer."

The ADVA FSP 150 features simultaneous support of Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) technology and has a built-in GPS receiver. This combination ensures time synchronization and assurance across multi-vendor infrastructures, enabling complete transparency and in-depth reporting on timing accuracy and network latencies. The ADVA FSP 150 supports the trend in algorithmic trading toward microsecond timing and synchronization accuracies between clocks that may be distributed within and among data centers.

"Competition within the finance and investment community is fierce. Companies here are in a continuous charge to differentiate their high-performance trading applications, to find that extra competitive edge," commented John Scherzinger, senior vice president, Sales North America, ADVA Optical Networking. "Time synchronization could be that key differentiator. With the ADVA FSP 150's demarcation, aggregation and probe capabilities, timing performance can be continuously monitored in-service and alarmed if required. It provides you with the most accurate insight and assurance possible."
