Infortrend and ATTO join forces

Infortrend® and ATTO Technology, Inc. have announced a joint 16G Fibre Channel (FC) storage solution that provides an easy to configure, flexible and high-performance storage solution for workflows in the most demanding applications such as 4K ultra high definition (UHD) media editing and large block streaming. Moreover, with the wider bandwidth, the combination of ATTO HBAs and Infortrend storage is an ideal solution to meet the ever-growing demands of server and workstation-based applications seen in media & entertainment, High Performance Computing (HPC), data centres and other performance-critical workflows.

Today, motion pictures and home media environments are increasingly employing 4K UHD. Infortrend’s 16G FC storage combined with ATTO’s Celerity™ 16G Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) allow users to edit multiple streams of 4K UHD simultaneously. This innovative storage solution powers high performance streaming media applications that support increasing resolution and frame rate requirements. When coupled with ATTO’s MultiPath Director™ technology, the world’s only solution to connect both servers and workstations directly to enterprise-class storage, users are provided with improved productivity while protecting their data.

ATTO's 16G FC HBAs provide unprecedented levels of performance, one-click tuning for ensuring optimal performance, broad compatibility and customised driver support for meeting the demands of specialised applications. Infortrend is the first company to satisfy the demand for 16G FC storage and recently started shipping a full lineup of 16G FC solutions. Together, both Infortrend and ATTO’s solutions provide a rock-solid base on which to build a next-generation 16G FC infrastructure and users are strongly encouraged to adopt the revolutionary new 16G technology to maximise the potential of their FC networks. As a result, Infortrend prices the 16G FC storage identically to its 8G storage.

“For 25 years, ATTO has created a series of industry firsts, such as the first Quad Channel 16G HBA,” said Wayne Arvidson, Vice-President of Marketing at ATTO. “Working with Infortrend to leverage those innovations for the 16G Fibre Channel ecosystem is further proof of our commitment to deliver innovative storage and network connectivity solutions that solve the toughest challenges facing organisations both today and in the future,” added Arvidson.

“Infortrend constantly pushes the boundaries of networked storage and appreciates working alongside an innovator like ATTO,” said Thomas Kao, Senior Director of Product Planning at Infortrend, adding “This partnership optimises our 16G FC solutions and we hope that customers looking to invest in next-generation performance will benefit from the enhanced compatibility between our 16G FC storage and ATTO’s 16G FC HBAs.”
