CloudFounders launches CloudFrames vRun for Cisco UCS

Unified hardware and software stack delivers Converged Infrastructure in a Box.

CloudFounders has launched CloudFrames vRun offering, an all-in-one converged infrastructure in a box. CloudFrames vRun is purpose-built for the industry leading Cisco UCS server architecture and builds further on the unique Cisco Unified Computing principle. CloudFrames vRun offers Storage Virtualization, VM centric Management, Snapshotting, Replication and Multi-Tenant Networking on a single platform.

“Cisco has been the leading proponent of converged infrastructure by driving initiatives such as VBlock, FlexPod and ExpressPod. What has been missing is a true converged infrastructure in a box offering that can dramatically lower the cost of such solutions” says Joost Metten, CEO for CloudFounders. “Often, virtualization or Converged Infrastructure involves multiple hardware and software components. The combination of SAN, backup, replication functionality, networking and caching appliances together raises the complexity. In addition, these complex solutions require a lot of expertise which lowers a solution provider’s profitability and increases the solution cost for the customer. CloudFrames is a virtualization infrastructure in a box solution that can be installed in under an hour and costs nearly 70% less than solutions that combine multiple hardware appliances and disparate software components. ” Metten explains.

Metten is convinced that other converged infrastructure solutions fail to meet the needs of the enterprise branch office or IT service providers. “What we see are other vendors delivering solutions that are either too complex or expensive making them only suitable for large enterprises with the most critical workloads. The needs of the enterprise branch office or SMB/mid-market customers are not met by such solutions,” Metten Adds.

CloudFrames vRun delivers against the full business spectrum with vRun50, 100 and 200 solutions all based on the same out-of-the-box principle. The first product to ship is vRun50 which is designed to meet the needs of the SMB or enterprise branch offices and delivers a fully integrated virtualization infrastructure to run 50 virtual machines on one Cisco C240M3 UCS server.

CloudFounders will offer the first public demonstration of vRun at the upcoming Cisco Live event, taking place from June 23rd to 27th in Orlando, Florida. “The demonstration at Cisco Live uses the shipping version of vRun and provides Cisco partners with an opportunity to test our claims, examine our feature set and discuss a pricing model which we believe offers the lowest cost private cloud solution on the planet on Cisco hardware,” Metten adds.

In addition to promoting IT convergence, the CEO points to another unique advantage offered by vRun. “With a single click, any Virtual Machine can be seamlessly replicated between any vRun platform, local or remote. This will help our channel partners deliver Disaster Recovery and IT outsourcing services. The aim is always to allow IT solution providers to maintain the relationships with clients that are changing with the arrival of cloud. For us, Cisco UCS provides a trusted platform to deliver the next generation of cloud services.”

CloudFounders has certified several partners offering replication service based on vRun to allow channel partners to deliver replication services from the day of launch. These include CentriLogic and Expert Data Labs in the US and MEOS Systeembeheer for Europe.
