Data Loss Prevention now ‘easier’

According to a recent SolarWinds survey- of over 160 IT professionals, the No. 1 security concern and priority is data loss and the prevention of that data loss. SolarWinds has announced the availability of SolarWinds Log & Event Manager (LEM) Workstation Edition, which can help manage data loss on Microsoft(R) Windows(R) workstations at an affordable price for all IT professionals.

SolarWinds LEM Workstation Edition supports log management, correlation and analysis from Windows workstations giving IT pros visibility and control over security including data leak prevention, operational and policy-driven events happening in real time.

Using its USB Defender Technology, SolarWinds LEM Workstation Edition monitors usage of USB mass storage devices, wireless devices and phones plus the processes and files accessed on mass storage devices. In addition, the USB Defender Technology can automatically detach devices that IT pros don't want people using -- either by user, device, or after they've done something suspicious.

SolarWinds Log &Event Manager Workstation Edition Highlights:
· Aggregate, classify and normalize log data from Windows workstations
· Perform true, real-time, in-memory, non-linear, multiple event correlation for advanced incident awareness
· Alert in real time based on Windows event logs as your workstations encounter security threats and policy violations
· USB Defender Technology protects sensitive data with real-time notification of USB devices and has the ability to block their usage, as well as built-in reporting to audit USB usage over time
· Automatically respond to performance issues and security threats with built-in Active Response rules
· Explore Windows log data using advanced data visualization tools available in SolarWinds LEM
· 300+ audit-proven ready-to-use report templates to support regulatory compliance of policies including PCI DSS, FISMA, GLBA, HIPAA, DISA STIG, and more

SolarWinds LEM Workstation Edition is not a new product or a new version of SolarWinds LEM. It is a new pricing structure that utilizes a node-based license model, allowing IT pros to extend real-time log collection, correlation and analysis to Windows workstations while staying within a planned budget as they deploy and expand IT infrastructure across multiple datacenters and geographies.

"Recognizing that users may have tens of thousands of workstations versus the number of servers monitored, we've now made it easier for IT pros to deploy log analysis across an entire IT infrastructure cost effectively," said Sanjay Castelino, VP and market leader, SolarWinds. "Users will still need an instance of SolarWinds Log and Event Manager, but by paying per workstation, they will no longer need to pay for the next tier up in order to add more workstations."
