CDNetworks has the most extensive coverage in BRICI (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and Indonesia) countries and continues to grow with another India Point of Presence (PoP) in Hyderabad. This PoP joins CDNetworks PoPs in Mumbai, Chennai, and New Delhi, ensuring high performing websites and fast ecommerce transactions across India.

According to Boston Consulting Group, India is “on the threshold of a digital revolution” with the number of Internet users in India expected to nearly triple from 125 million in 2011 to 330 million by 2016. Boston Consulting Group analyzed the online buying experience stating that 21% of India’s online buyers purchased air travel and the next highest online purchases were for PCs, mobile devices, and other electronics. India’s online consumers also use the internet for research on cars and large appliances according to Boston Consulting Group. Several CDNetworks’ car manufacturing customers and ecommerce sites, including iOffer, receive major traffic from India.

“As one of the fastest growing internet user bases and the third largest in the world, behind China and the US (KPCB 2013 Internet Trends), India is an important market for our customers,” said Jeff Kim, President & COO, CDNetworks. “We are seeing growth in ecommerce, gaming, media, and travel booking sites reaching India’s consumers.”

A Google India and TNS Australia study published earlier this year, stated that online travel sites are the gateway for India consumers beginning to shop online. CDNetworks travel booking sites, including Hostelworld, RailEurope and Transhotel, are using CDNetworks to accelerate their sites in India. “Transhotel is global, but we have seen a lot of growth with customers in India using our booking engine,” said Francisco Javier Diéguez, Architecture and Infrastructure Manager of Transhotel. “CDNetworks helps us ensure that our booking engine performs well throughout the globe and in high growth emerging markets.”

The Google India study found that 34% of online shoppers in India searched for consumer electronics and 30% for apparel and accessories. The report also stated that searches for apparel and accessories are poised to surpass searches for electronics this year, which is good news for CDNetworks eCommerce customers already reaching India with high performing websites.
