Eaton joins NetApp Alliance Partner Program

Customers to benefit from enhanced business continuity through collaboration.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton, an industry leader in power management solutions for virtual environments, has announced membership of the NetApp Alliance Partner Program and a new version of its Intelligent Power Manager™ software with the ability to monitor, manage and protect NetApp® unified storage. Through the collaboration with NetApp, and the release of its latest software features, Eaton will provide lab-verified solutions to increase data protection and business continuity for customers.

“One of the goals of the NetApp Alliance Partner Program is to work with companies that have a shared vision of addressing the growing requirements of today’s complex enterprise IT environments”, said Maria Olson, head of Global Alliances, NetApp. “Eaton is committed to providing integrated software solutions that simplify power management for information technology and data centre managers, and we look forward to collaborating to help our shared customers increase the uptime of their cloud and storage platforms”.

Eaton’s most recent update to its Intelligent Power Manager software provides the ability to monitor and manage NetApp unified storage as well as facilitate a graceful shutdown to protect data integrity when power is compromised. The software also integrates seamlessly with the major virtualisation platforms and applications, including VMware®, Citrix®, Microsoft®, Red Hat® and other Xen® open source platforms, allowing users to view and manage their entire power system.

Additional benefits for customers with Intelligent Power Manager software include the planned movement of services to a backup site and load shedding capabilities that increase the uptime of critical business workloads in the event of a power disruption. “Pre-validated software empowers businesses by accelerating the speed of deployment, streamlining support and simplifying management”, said Tatu Valjakka, Software Product Manager, Eaton’s Power Quality Division, EMEA region. “As a member of the Alliance Partner Program, we will continue to develop power management solutions that are designed to operate in harmony with NetApp products to provide customers with effective tools for maintaining system availability”.
