Power Management video explores effective server rack cable management

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has launched a new power management video which explores effective cable management for server racks.

The new video, called ‘When it’s a jungle in there’, is the latest in the company’s popular series of Power 101 with Professor Wattson videos aimed at IT professionals, resellers and distributors. The video is available on Eaton’s dedicated power quality solutions website at www.switch-on-eaton.co.uk/resources/power-101.aspx, and at the end of the video, viewers have the opportunity to download Eaton’s latest white paper on rack hygiene

Having the correct cable management arrangement in a server rack helps to control internal airflow and is thus essential for protecting critical IT equipment. In the new video, Professor Wattson explains how the ideal arrangement depends on the type of rack being used and outlines a number of ways to organise different types of IT closets, from open four-post racks to enclosed racks. At the end of the video, viewers interested in learning more about the importance of airflow management can download a free white paper which explores the concept of rack hygiene and the rack as an airflow management device rather than an inert commodity. The white paper goes on to explain how the evolution of the rack as a critical component of the engineered airflow system enables data centres to become more energy efficient, saves on costs and restores flexibility to the data centre manager.
