PSU wins virtualisation contract with Autogard

The investment, which forms part of the Corporation’s wider policy in supporting best practice across its global operations, will see PSU consolidate and migrate a number of bespoke and core application services for the Gloucestershire based firm into a new fully clustered virtualised (VMware) IT environment.

With the benefits of VMware’s failover clustering and automated work load balancing features, Autogard can look forward to gaining a more resilient IT infrastructure, that is not only easier to manage, but offers increased service availability for a faster, more reliable end user experience.

Commenting about the new deal, Bill Howgego, Director of Autogard said: “Given the many niche software applications that we use to design and manufacture precision engineered products, which are supported by numerous industry specific servers running on a wide variety of different operating systems – it’s not hard to appreciate how challenging and costly our systems can be to maintain and upgrade. So when PSU told us that we could simplify our processes and run applications on the latest operating systems, if we migrated a large portion of our existing legacy infrastructure onto a new virtualised IT platform, we didn’t hesitate to take their advice.”
