Internet of Things spending to reach $1.7 trillion in 2020

The Internet of Things (IoT) continues to gain momentum as vendors and enterprises begin to embrace the opportunities this market presents. According to new research from International Data Corporation (IDC), the worldwide Internet of Things market will grow from $655.8 billion in 2014 to $1.7 trillion in 2020 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.9%.

Information Technology decision makers (ITDMs) believe wireless networks to be the most vulnerable element of the IT infrastructure, according to a survey from Fortinet. Nearly half (49%) of respondents ranked wireless networks as most exposed from a security standpoint, in contrast to just 29% for the core network.

Otto Berkes has been named chief technology officer of CA Technologies, effective 15 June, 2015. Berkes will be based in New York City and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Mike Gregoire.
