Vertiv launches space saving and cost effective UPS

Liebert EXS offers high efficiency power protection within the smallest footprint.

Vertiv has launched the Liebert® EXS Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The Liebert EXS is an extremely compact, monolithic, transformer-free UPS which provides very high density and the maximum active power possible up to 40 degrees Celsius. Its double conversion efficiency of up to 96,2 percent also significantly reduces Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and impact on the environment.

Initially available in the range of 10-20 kVA across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the Liebert EXS has the smallest footprint on the market within its range, up to half of the size compared to competition. The compact design achieves optimized battery configuration as it can house up to four battery strings, eliminating the need for external battery housing which reduces overall installation costs and floorspace. This allows the system to be ideal for IT applications. Moreover, the Liebert EXS can power a variety of safety systems as defined in EN 50171, such as emergency escape lights and fire-extinguishing installations, not to forget transportation, healthcare, retail and government facilities.
“At Vertiv we are continuously investing and developing new technologies to ensure that we are offering the best solutions to our customers,” said Giovanni Zanei, ?director of AC Power product marketing for Vertiv in EMEA. “Limited floor space and high operating costs are constant pressures, which is why the Liebert EXS has been designed to save on space and energy. Being built on a global platform, this UPS ensures standardisation and optimal performances for global customers who want to cut TCO and footprint.”
Like all Vertiv UPS systems, the Liebert EXS can be complemented with Vertiv LIFE™ Services, a sophisticated remote diagnostic and preventive monitoring service which provides early warnings of UPS conditions and tolerance issues, allowing effective proactive maintenance, fast incident response and remote trouble shooting 24/7. Furthermore, the  Trellis Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platform enables real-time, unified optimization of data centre IT and facilities infrastructure.
The Liebert EXS has been extensively tested at the Vertiv state-of-the-art Customer Experience Center located in Bologna, Italy.
