Syneto shakes up the hyperconverged infrastructure market

All-in-one hyperconverged platform enters market at half the cost of a traditional infrastructure.

Syneto has unveiled its new HYPER Series 3000, a range of hybrid and all-flash hyperconverged platforms with built-in instant disaster recovery (DR) capabilities, which allows users to restart their infrastructure on the DR unit within 15-30 minutes. These new products provide industry-leading performance and agility, and broaden the company’s solution portfolio. The new series consists of two platforms: the HYPER Series 3100 and 3200.

The HYPER Series 3000 is an all-in-one hyperconverged system designed to address the data management, virtual application deployment, usability and data recovery challenges that businesses face today. It aims to replace traditional IT solutions and put an end to the inherent frustrations and restrictions that are faced by enterprises with small to medium-size data centres as well as SMBs and organisations with remote offices.

The HYPER Series 3100 is able to sustain up to 24 medium-sized VMs with up to 16TB effective hybrid storage capacity, including space saving mechanisms such as compression, deduplication and thin provisioning. The HYPER Series 3200 is designed to sustain up to 48 medium-sized VMs, with different capacity and performance options available:

1. Hybrid: up to 16TB effective hybrid capacity
2. Hybrid(double-hybrid): 8TB hybrid tier alongside 3.2TB all-flash tier
3. All-flash: 7.2TB all-flash

The HYPER Series 3000 is a perfect fit for virtual server workloads, including e-mail and domain servers (HYPER 3100 series), as well as high-performance virtual applications such as databases and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) servers (HYPER 3200 series). Because hyperconverged infrastructures leverage the full potential of modern computing solutions, they are able to deliver a cost-effective, full–stack IT infrastructure with significantly improved application performance, space efficiency and fast resource deployment.

According to Gartner, the hyperconverged market will reach $5bn in sales and account for 24% of the storage market by 2019 and by 2020 respectively; 10% of all systems will be self-protecting. Given the evolution of the market and by listening to existing customers, Syneto focused on a software-defined-storage approach. To ensure business continuity, the new series provides hyperconverged systems with built-in disaster recovery capabilities to help organisations combat the challenges of traditional IT infrastructures: rising costs, management complexity and lack of proper disaster recovery capabilities.

“Leveraging our market experience and technological know-how, it was an obvious step for Syneto to move resolutely into the hypercovergence market. We have created something that businesses of all sizes require: an all-in-one hyperconverged infrastructure with a built-in disaster recovery capability which is affordable and offers high performance at the same time ,” said Vadim Comanescu, CEO Syneto.

The HYPER Series 3000 runs virtualised business applications, shares and stores files in a highly efficient manner and ensures the safety of all data via the built-in disaster recovery unit, which can “replay” the customer’s infrastructure on the included DR unit within 15 to 30 minutes of a downtime event. Data security is further enhanced by always-on multi-layered data protection at HDD, file and VM level, as well as the ability to create up to 1440 automatic backups per day, for every application, offering exceptional protection versus data corruption. All the products in the series utilise the latest V4 Xeon Processors for high-performance computing and the latest innovations in NAND flash technologies.

Performance is never compromised. Thanks to Syneto’s intelligent caching mechanisms, which cache data across multiple storage media types, virtual applications benefit from 5-20 times higher performance compared to traditional IT infrastructures. Furthermore, the products feature built-in 10Gb software-defined network connectivity between applications and storage, increasing the performance even further and removing the need for additional expensive networking hardware purchases. Performance-hungry business applications can be hosted on separate all-flash tiers to provide truly ground breaking performance.
